If you're here it's probably because you're crazy...ummm...I mean an entrepreneur. I mean - we all know that's kinda the same thing but I digress.

If you've started your company or business you know there are tons of great things about being a solo founder but there are equally as many uphill battles. We all know entrepreneurship can be ridiculously difficult so bringing on a battle buddy can lessen the load.

I once got to chat with Blake, owner of Tom's (an $800 million company at the time), tell me about how he sold half of his company that he'd built to $800 million as a solo founder because "two heads are better than one and also four shoulders are way more balanced" which stuck with me.

So - if you're at a place where you feel like onboarding a co-founder makes sense, try a few of these options:

1) Angel.co. This website is a great resource for finding someone who shares your vision and can help you take your business to the next level. With millions of users, you are sure to find someone who is a perfect fit for your company. Here are a few tips to get started in your co-founder search:

a) The first step is to create a profile on their site. This will allow you to list your startup and what you are looking for in a co-founder. Be sure to be as specific as possible to attract the right candidates.

b) Once your profile is created, start browsing through the profiles of other users. When you find someone who looks like a good fit, reach out and introduce yourself.

2) Events/Conferences. If you want to increase your chances of finding the perfect co-founder, consider attending events and conferences within your niche. These are great places to meet potential candidates and get your business in front of them. There are always new people attending these events, so you never know who you might meet. Keep a list of your "wants" for this ideal person handy and keep notes as you're meeting people so you can keep things straight at the end of the day when it's time to do your follow-up.

When the time comes to choose a co-founder, be sure to weigh all of your options carefully. This is a big decision that will have a major impact on your business, so take your time and make the best choice for your company. Good luck!
